Representatives from Luton mosques joined more than 80 people at an inspiring event at HMP Bedford prison organised by the Chaplaincy team. Five panelists shared their personal stories of reformation having found faith in prison before an audience of inmates, prison staff and community representatives at Bedford’s category B prison.

The event was organised to highlight positive stories of change following release into the community by ex-offenders who had found God in prison and then managed to develop a stable life after prison. Advice was shared highlighting the importance of faith institutions, good company and personal commitment to submit to God and live a good life.

Representatives of the Welcome Directory also shared their vision of helping faith communities become places where people who leave prison find acceptance. More than 90 faith organisations have already signed up and others are encouraged to participate in supporting ex-offenders on their journey of rehabilitation at http://www.welcomedirectory.org.uk.
