We have, and continue to, advocate on behalf of community members on a range of issues including:
Community safety
Following a number of jewellery-related burglaries across the town, Luton mosques met with Bedfordshire Police to review statistics and discuss proactive measures to keep homes safe from burglary.
Interfacing with our MP’s and councillors
There have been numerous meetings with our MP’s on matters ranging from Ofsted’s comments on hijab to the UK response to the Burma crisis.
Response to the refugee crisis
Luton mosques participated in the set up of a Refugee working group with the leader of council and other faith leaders to discuss how local support arrangements. The Discover Islam centre provided food packs and some emergency supplies for refugees entering Luton.
