Luton mosques are alarmed by the distressing scenes from al Aqsa mosque. This week, Israeli forces stormed the Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, injuring hundreds of worshippers using rubber coated bullets and stun grenades. The actions follow a week of peaceful protests against forced evictions in the Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighbourhoods of East Jerusalem, which the UN rights spokesperson, Rupert Colville said “may amount to war crimes”.

Luton mosques call for the immediate cessation of violence and for Israel to call off all forced evictions of civilian populations. Our MPs and elected representatives should condemn these violent actions, call for Palestinian human rights to be upheld and the sanctity of Islam’s third holiest site, al Aqsa mosque, to be respected.
