We are deeply saddened to hear of the attacks in Sri Lanka this morning, occurring in the heart of the local Christian community and killing over 150 people and injuring so many others. Whilst the deliberate targeting of a minority community is appalling, it is particularly abhorrent that these attacks were carried out on a day which holds so much significance to Christians, and at a time when there would have been an increased number of people in attendance. We utterly reject all ideologies of hatred and division.

During this difficult time, the Muslim community in Luton stands in sorrow and solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka. Our prayers and condolences are with the families and friends of all those affected by this violence.
